First of all, Happy New Year! Welcome back to our cosy little Internet site! 🙂

On New Year’s day we usually make many resolutions such as doing sports, stop smoking, start learning a new language or taking it up again… In short, a thousand resolutions. If you resolved to study English, here you will find a little present: 10 free online resources that will help you with your English learning process.

We have distributed them in five different categories according to levels: we hope you find them useful!

Speaking practice

1. David Sperling’s ESL Café

Excellent website with forums, quizzes and general information for English students.There is also a useful web guide.

2. English Language Chat

Do you feel like chatting in English? If your answer is “yes”, this is an excellent opportunity.

Listening laboratory

3. The English Listening Lounge

Although this is a subscription website, there is a free section with graded listening exercises. There are also background explanations on the type of language used by the speaker.

4. Randall’s ESL Cyber Listening Lab

Lots of graded listening materials, including videos, with pre and post-listening exercises.

5. Penguin Readers

This is a carefully graded collection of books that enable English language learners to enjoy reading whatever their language level.

6. Time Magazine

The famous Time magazine, full of articles to practise your English. There’s an American and a European edition and a magazine archive for you to read any old issues.
